The short course in the Principles of Pyrometallurgy provides you with the knowledge of and practical skills in the basic science of metallurgy in order to analyse pyrometallurgical processes. The course covers aspects of reaction equilibria, reaction kinetics, as well as mass and energy balances as applied to pyrometallurgy. You will be able to identify the necessary fundamentals of reactions, analyse processes and perform computer-based calculations in Microsoft Excel. The course also provides you with insight to production processes, mass and energy balance, the theory and modelling of reaction equilibria and reaction kinetics as specifically applied to the production of ferromanganese
After successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to: - use the fundamentals to analyse pyrometallurgical processes; - identify the necessary fundamentals of reaction; - analyse processes; and - do computer-based calculations.
The course covers the following modules: 1. Overview of Production Processes and Mass and Energy Balance 2. Reaction Equilibria and Reaction Kinetics Applied to the Production of Ferromanganese: Theory and Modelling in MS Excel 3. Pyrometallurgical Process Analysis Techniques Applied to the Production of Ferromanganese Modelling in FACTSAGE
